OverviewWhat actually happens
Kids are natural process artists, and I just give them room to keep at it. In my classes, kids 5 to 12 get real materials and a clear place to start: what happens if we mix these, build this, paint over that? I keep the room safe and moving. They decide what their thing becomes.
What parents notice isn't the art that comes home (though it will, and it will be glorious and possibly damp). It's the confidence. Kids who make choices for an hour a week, with no wrong answers, start trusting their own ideas everywhere else.
After-school clubs:
After-school clubs run as 8 to 10 week sessions at Eastside elementary schools, all materials included. They're rolling out now. Get on the list, name your kid's school, and I'll come find its PTSA. Enough interest from one school is exactly what I bring to them.
Birthday parties:
Ready to book now: guided making for up to 10 kids, at your place or a partner space, all materials included. I carry the mess in and carry it back out. Want it themed? I can build the whole session around whatever they're into, robots, fairy gardens, dinosaurs. Tell me the theme and we'll brainstorm.
Bring:
Bring your kid and their least-precious shirt. The mess and the materials are on me.

Is this just free play?

Nope. I bring a plan and a clear place to start every week. The freedom happens inside that, so kids are never stuck at a blank page and never bored.
My kid says they're not good at art.

Good news: there's nothing here to be good at. No grades, no right answers. I give them a place to start and they run with it.
Will they bring something home?

Usually, and it might be a little damp. It won't look like a kit or a copy of mine, because they're making their own choices the whole way. That's the point.
